Executive Summary:
Associate Professor Karl Ng is a neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist with the Royal North Shore Hospital and the University of Sydney. His special area of interest is in muscle and nerve excitability using threshold tracking techniques and Qtrac software, having commenced his PhD in Queen Square, London. He has published widely on this and has over 100 publications, including international consensus guidelines in Clinical Neurophysiology on the technique of muscle excitability. He is presently Editor in Chief of BMJ Neurology Open and Neurology editor for the Internal Medicine Journal.
Lecture Abstract:
Muscle excitability employing the Qtrac excitability protocol will be shown. Concepts surrounding the physiology of sarcolemmal properties will be demonstrated, and a review of selected studies in normal physiology and disease states will be covered. Possible clinical applications will also be discussed.
