He became the attending physician in Department of Neurology of National Taiwan University Hospital at the same year. His research interest is imaging and histopathological studies in different neuromuscular disorders. He established the neuromuscular ultrasound and MRI with several published articles in the Department of Neurology of National Taiwan University Hospital. Lecture Abstract:
Sarcopenia is a functional diagnosis that reflects muscle impairment. Unlike etiological diagnoses, which focus on the underlying cause, sarcopenia is defined by functional decline in skeletal muscle performance. Several assessment tools have been developed to diagnose and monitor the severity of sarcopenia. Interestingly, when these diagnostic criteria are applied to neuromuscular disorders such as amyotrophic lateral sclerosis or inclusion body myositis, these conditions often also meet the definition of sarcopenia.
In this presentation, I will begin by introducing the concept of sarcopenia and the current diagnostic tools used to assess it. I will then broaden the discussion to include various methods for evaluating skeletal muscle, encompassing clinical assessments, electrophysiological testing, and imaging techniques.
