Executive Summary:
I am Po-Tso Lin, a neurologist currently serving as an attending physician at the Department of Neurology, Taipei Veterans General Hospital. I received comprehensive training in neurology at Taipei VGH for neurological care, teaching, and research. My clinical expertise is complemented by a strong academic focus on clinical neuroscience, particularly epilepsy, headache, and stroke. I have authored more than ten SCI papers, including seven as first author in international journals. I was awarded the ASEPA & ASNA EEG Certificate and have received multiple Young Investigator Awards from the Taiwan Epilepsy Society for presentations at international epilepsy congresses
Lecture Abstract:
Perampanel, a selective, non-competitive AMPA receptor antagonist, has been widely adopted as an adjunctive therapy for epilepsy. I will present EEG observations from an epilepsy patient treated with perampanel at our center. Clinical data, including seizure type, dosage, and treatment duration, were collected alongside EEG findings to explore correlations between perampanel administration and neurophysiological changes. Preliminary analyses suggest that perampanel may influence background rhythms and interictal epileptiform discharges, demonstrating reduced epileptiform activity concurrent with clinical improvement. This real-world case highlights the importance of EEG monitoring not only for therapeutic assessment but also for understanding the broader neurophysiological effects of perampanel. Our findings provide insights into the clinical application of EEG as a tool to evaluate treatment response in epilepsy patients.
