Executive Summary:
Dr. Chien Chen graduated from Chang Gung University and completed her neurology specialist training at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan. She became the visiting staff and neurological consultant in 2003. Dr. Chen was the Secretary General of the Taiwan Epilepsy Society and the Children's Epilepsy Association of Taiwan from 2013 to 2021.
Dr. Chen started her research interest in management and pathophysiology of epilepsy, especially in pediatric epilepsy and presurgical evaluations of drug-resistant epilepsy. She had organized more than 30 comprehensive multi-centered epilepsy case conferences since 2011 in Taiwan and became president of the Taiwan epilepsy society in 2025.
She also works as a secretary and member of ASEPA (Asian epilepsy academy) since 2019, has conducted numerous educational courses and international congresses in the Asia-Oceania region.

Executive Summary:
Dr. Chun-Hing Yiu graduated from the School of Medicine, National Taiwan University, Taiwan in 1976. He received his residency training at the Department of Medicine and the Department of Neuropsychiatry at the Taipei Veterans General Hospital (TVGH), Taiwan. He became an attending neurologist there.

In 1984, he was accepted as a clinical and research fellow by the Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University, Canada, where he learned advanced treatment strategies for epilepsy, especially the techniques in the identification of the epileptogenic zone. Dr. Yiu developed and implemented the first multidisciplinary comprehensive epilepsy team and the first Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) in Taiwan at the TVGH in 1986. The team started the Epilepsy Surgery Program since 1987. It opened a modern era in the treatment of refractory epilepsy in Taiwan. Thenceforth the team keeps a leading position in the management of epilepsy in this country.

Dr. Yiu used to be a Clinical Professor of Neurology at the National Yang Ming University and the National Medical Defence University for decades. He was the President of the Taiwan Epilepsy Society (TEA) between the years of 1998 and 2001. He was also one of the conveners of the "Standard Chinese Translation of Epilepsy and Electroencephalography Terms" task force, committing to reach consensus on terminology used by the global Chinese medical community.

Currently, he is a Clinical Professor of Neurology at the National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University and an Honorary Director of the TEA.

Dr. Fitri Octaviana accomplished her neurology specialist training at Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital - Faculty Medicine Universitas Indonesia, Jakarta. She became the attending doctor and neurologist consultant since 2006. Dr. Fitri Octaviana was the Head of Neurology Residency Program at Universitas Indonesia since 2018 to 2023. She has been as Head of Indonesia Clinical Neurophysiology Association since 2023 until now. She had experience on organizing scientific sessions in 33rd ICCN 2024 in Jakarta. Her research is mainly on EEG, Epilepsy, and Status Epilepticus. She and her colleagues had set up long-term EEG monitoring and Epilepsy Surgery Evaluation in Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo Hospital.

Executive Summary:
Dr. Shang-Yeong Kwan is the consultant of Children’s Hospital of China Medical University, Taiwan, and also a part-time visiting staff member at the Section of Epilepsy, Neurological Institute at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taiwan, where he retired in 2023. He was the President of Taiwan Epilepsy Society (TES) from 2013–2015, and the President of Children’s Epilepsy Association of Taiwan (CEAT) from 2017-2019. Also the chairman of ILAE-CAOA-ASEPA (2019-2023). Before retirement, he also served as Clinical Professor of Neurology at the National Defense Medical College in Taiwan for decades. Dr Kwan received his medical education from Kaohsiung Medical University, Kaohsiung, Taiwan, and graduated in 1983. After completing his national military service in the Republic of China Navy, he enrolled as a Resident of Neurology at Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Taipei, Taiwan in 1985 where he progressed to Clinical Fellow in 1991. Dr Kwan then travelled as a Research Fellow to the Toronto Sick Children’s Hospital at Toronto University, Toronto, Canada, and subsequently became board-certified as an EEG specialist in Canada, in 1992. Dr Kwan also holds a Master of Law, which he obtained in 2006 from Soochow University in Taipei, Taiwan. Dr Kwan is actively involved with professional bodies dedicated to epilepsy in Taiwan: after his back to Taiwan in 1993, he had served several terms as the secretary general, board of director and supervisor of TES and CEAT for decades. With his dedication to epilepsy education, he was awarded the Asian and Ocean Outstanding Achievements Epilepsy Award by ILAE- CAOA in 2018. Although he has retired now, he still actively teaching the EEG and epilepsy in many medical centres of Taiwan and joining the teaching courses of ASEPA around all Asian countries.

Dr. Siew-Na Lim is a Professor in the Department of Neurology at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital and Chang Gung University College of Medicine, Taiwan.

She received her medical degree from the College of Medicine, China Medical University, Taichung, and completed her neurology specialist training at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taoyuan. Since 2005, she has served as an attending physician and neurological consultant. In 2011, she obtained her PhD in Neuroscience from the University of London, United Kingdom.

Dr. Lim’s clinical and research work focuses on improving outcomes in drug-resistant epilepsy, with particular emphasis on neurostimulation. She played a key role in establishing the first deep brain stimulation (DBS) center for epilepsy treatment in Taiwan and has published extensively in this field. Another major focus of her research is advanced neuroimaging in epilepsy, including functional and structural MRI analysis across different epilepsy syndromes. Her contributions have been recognized internationally, including the Best Oral Free Paper Award at the 5th Asian Epilepsy Surgery Congress (AESC) in Hong Kong (2011).

Dr. Lim has also been actively involved in professional organizations. She served as Secretary-General of the Taiwan Epilepsy Society (2011–2013), collaborating with the ILAE to promote initiatives such as Epilepsy Sport Day, Stand Up for Epilepsy, and the Epilepsy Olympiad in Taiwan. She was Chief of the Section of Functional Neurology and Epilepsy at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital from 2015 to 2019 and was reappointed to the position in July 2025. She currently serves as Director of the Taiwan Epilepsy Society.

Executive Summary:
Dr. Ta-Cheng Chen accomplished his neurology specialist training at Chang Gung Memorial Hospital, Taoyuan, Taiwan. He became the attending doctor and neurological consultant since 1993 at China medial college Beigang branch Hospital. Dr. Chen was the chief of Epilepsy Division, Neurological Department, Changhua Christian Hospital since 2008 till now. He was assigned as Department Director of Neurological Department, Changhua Christian Hospital since 2011 till now. He is now being Executive Director of Taiwan Epilepsy society.

Dr. Chen started his research interest in electrophysiology diagnosis and treatment of Epileptic disorders, especially in the Electroencephalogram since 2001. He began to do research about relationship between cerebellum and epilepsy by MRI volume measurement, repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) treatment for drug resistance focal onset epilepsy and anticonvulsant related quantitative EEG change. Since 2013, he was committed to writing the electroencephalogram guidelines of Taiwan Epilepsy Society and continued to do revision.

Research Interests:
The effect of antiepileptic drugs on Electroencephalogram especially by quantitative EEG; this helps clinical epilepsy treatment. On the other hand, he is interested in the clinical diagnostic application of traditional Electroencephalogram reading.
